I’m sure you are familiar with the two characters above. In this classic Disney movie, Aladdin brought Princess Jasmine on a magic carpet ride, showing her a shining, shimmering, splendid world; a world outside where she grew up, where she spent most her life.

While I have no magic carpet to bring you on a ride, I do have a plan to build a platform, for me to show you to the wonderful world of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

INTRODUCING QI-MOBILE

Qi (pronounce as ‘Chee’), from the mandarin character ‘气’, means life force or energy flow which is vital for a healthy body.

Mobile simply means the convenience of accessing information or booking of services anytime, anywhere; through your phone.

QI-MOBILE, A MOBILE-FRIENDLY WEBSITE

Two main functions of Qi-Mobile:

    1. Connecting you to TCM practitioners in the country.

Usually when you require services from TCM practitioners, you usually ask around and get information from word-of-mouth. But with Qi-Mobile, you can get the same information with just a few quick taps on your phone, complete with the doctor’s profile, professional background, contact number, address, ratings even reviews!

    2. Guided Support.

      The ‘exploring’ part of this site aims to support you on your path toward well-being;

Yes, there are lots of TCM articles and books out there, which are great sources of information.

The problem is, with way too much for us to consume nowadays, there is a possibility that we don’t remember what we have read. Qi-Mobile tackles that by introducing what’s good for you in a bite-sized, fun and interactive manner like games, quizzes, tutorial clips etc., so that what you learn will stick. Have fun while learning!

HOW IS TCM RELEVANT TO YOU?

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is more than just skin colour or race. It was  first discovered by an emperor in ancient China, who studied and explored TCM and worked together with his medical practitioners to archive all this information for generations to come. TCM provides both beauty and healthcare solutions that encourages the body to unleash its own treasure trove of healing mechanism.

Please note that TCM is not a trend. Its a well studied methods passed on generations to generations.

IS TCM ABOVE SCIENCE?

Meridian is huge in TCM. It is a network of invisible energy pathways connecting everything in our body outward in, inward out, sideways, vertically, horizontally, diagonally, in every direction and every dimension possible. On these meridians, lies hundreds of acupressure points, when activated; act as a cure to discomfort, pain and sickness.

Fun fact: In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) books, meridian pathways was said to be discovered by someone who possess some sort of special vision, that can ‘see’ the energy flow path in a human body.

Skeptical? You bet.

The existence of energy flow is not something that can be proven by the Science standard today. But the point is, it works. How is TCM defined then, if it can’t be proven by modern Science? Perhaps we are not yet at that plane of existence to understand how it works… life can be mysterious that way, and hopefully it might unravel its wonders to us sometime in the future.

HOW DID TCM HELPED ME?

Growing up I have always had a tummy full of trapped wind. I felt bloated and sluggish all the time and it got so bad that no matter what I ate, it would still bloat due to gas and it was uncomfortable.

I was desperate for a way to relieve bloating naturally without medication, without having to go to the doctor’s.

I chanced upon a series of TCM self-massages techniques that helped relieved my discomfort. I got curious and started to explore more to see if it can help me with my other issues. And to my pleasant surprise, it did. The ‘sub-health’ symptoms I have slowly improved.

WHY AM I BUILDING QI-MOBILE?

TCM solved my long-time beauty and health issues. Issues that has been bugging me but wasn’t serious enough for me to pay a visit to the doctor’s. As I explored deeply into TCM, I understand my body better through the practical and approachable healthcare information; and at the same time continuing with the self-massage techniques.

Slowly, I felt better and for the first time in my life, I felt energetic.

I was thrilled to know my body can actually house this amount of energy as I used to accept the fact that I was born naturally weaker, and therefore just ‘unlucky’ and can’t do anything about it.

What a relieve, what an empowering thought!

That inspired me to reach out and help others like me who are feeling the way I once felt, and who are looking for more sustainable and natural approach toward well-being.

I want to enable the joy and life force a healthy body brings, to everyone and Qi-Mobile channel to access the vast benefits of TCM, supporting your wellness journey by simple, sustainable methods.

FINANCIALS

For Phase 1, half the amount of the fund would be channeled into marketing of the site, on both online and offline platforms. A quarter would be allocated for creating content and the remainder would be used to build the site itself.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF

Hello! This is a very happy me in the photo (I love planes!), taken a few years back during my visit to a War Museum in Vietnam. As someone curious, I am always eager to explore, experience, and travel about. For one to be able travel to another country, to another climate, another time zone; we must have a body that is strong enough to adapt to a foreign environment, to enjoy and experience new things. Our body not only supports us during these travels, it also supports our day-to-day operations, in ways that would take up years of studies to understand.

Your body is a freakin’ superstar

Your body takes care of you in ways you don’t even realize! And what are you doing to care for it?

In creating the Qi-Mobile platform, I hope to introduce Traditional Chinese Medicine as guidance toward sustainable and natural methods of self-care. Will you join me? 😊

RISK AND CHALLENGES

Reading up on TCM is easy. Creating informative content to be put on social media is easy. What is difficult, to me, is actually putting myself out there and reaching out to people. I know if I wanted to raise awareness on how TCM can help people, I have to put myself out there. This is far from a straight-line journey to me.

But when you are aware of what you want to achieve, you begin to pay attention. When you paid attention, magical things happen. Opportunities come your way. You’ll meet people that will widen your perspective. You’ll be introduced to people who are good at something you’re struggling with and maybe you’ll learn a thing or two.

I am immensely grateful for the people I’ve met throughout this very personal journey of growth to me, and will continue with the compass pointing to my north – raising awareness on Traditional Chinese Medicine and how; with its simple, sustainable, practical healthcare methods; can support your journey toward well-being.

    Hello, some updates!

    Hiya folks.

This campaign was launched on the 19th March, on the second day Restricted Movement Order was imposed by our government in an attempt to flatten the curve against the battle with the coronavirus disease . Truth be told, my first thought was this isn\\\\\'t a good time, with what;s happening. Well, it is true, this is an especially difficult time. We are living in anxiety and fear, struggling to adjust with so much going on.

However, I believe perseverance and the ability to adapt to present conditions will get us through. We will be emerging stronger and more resilient toward any future challenges. And you know what, this may not even be the toughest thing nor the only challenge we\\\\\'ll be facing in the future.. so why wait?

Plus, is there such a thing as the \\\\\'perfect time\\\\\'; to start doing anything?

RMO x TCM Tips and Tricks

I have curated some posts during these times of the #COVID-19 Restricted Movement Order, in hopes of making your time #stayinghome and #workingfromhome a little more bearable. Lets go through this together!

    1. Eyes glued to screens more often now which is understandable. We are hungry for updates, desperate for better news. But, over-straining your eyes will lead to tired eyes, blurry vision, and poor eyesight. This is a simple 2-minute eye massage that’ll help soothe your eyes!

Hiya folks. How’s day 3 of #MovementControlOrder treating you? Today I realized when things started to get a little…

    2. Staying home = a lot of sitting. If you have been sitting for a very long period (happening a lot now), fluid will pool at the lower part of your body, water retention happens. This simple exercise, à la Traditional-Chinese-Medicine-style; can help relieve that!

How is everyone’s Day #5 of the #MovementControlOrder? For us it’s a routine of food and sleep, and doing anything we…

    3. Moving around less and walking less from #stayinghome has started to take a toll on my body. Especially the digestive system.Constipation, bloated tummy, tummy full of wind etc. If you are feeling the way I am and looking for a simple, no-nonsense, natural, effective way of relieving yourself from that discomfort, allow me to introduce one, the Traditional Chinese Medicine way.

How’s everyone doing halfway into the #MovementControlOrder ? I’m starting to feel the effects of staying indoors for 7…

    4. Overconsumption of news these days leads to overloading, there’s only so much your heart can take, emotionally and mentally; especially when most of what you’re reading is bad. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, do yourself a favour. Take a break from the news and massage this acupuncture point!

News of the extension of #RMO to another 14 days was devastating. However, that is necessary.Reading the news and…

    5. Desperately need to reduce stress, and none of your usual stress-reducing tricks were working? Looking to meditate but find it difficult with everyone at home during #RMO? This might help!

    7. Part of being human is experiencing all sorts of emotions but sometimes that can be too much for us to handle, especially extremely negative ones. This acupuncture point is for times when emotions threaten to overwhelm your good sense and logic. When you need to feel better immediately. Gently pat on your chest, between your breasts! -it\\\\\'s what I do and it always helps.

    Introducing Qi-Mobile to TCM practitioners

Calling TCM practitioners and saying hi, introducing them to Qi-Mobile and what it can offer:

    1. As a platform to list their services
    2. As a channel for new customers
    3. An automated appointment booking system which is able to send appointment reminders to customers, thereby reducing administrative work on practitioners end

    An eventful few days

    1. Virtual meeting with potential investors

All of us campaigners will be attending a virtual meeting with VIPs soon, such exciting news. Each of us will have about 5 minutes to pitch. Ideally, I would love to have mahjong sheets to sketch my idea as I present in person but a virtual meeting would be a fun challenge – how would you present yourself and your idea within that 5-mins window? Through a computer screen, no less. And what do you say to these VIPs who had probably sat through hundreds of pitches? Hmm..

    2. Qi Mobile site mock up

Many moons ago, when I was in the interior design industry… before hotel room designs were given the green light to fabrication stage, we would do up only one unit of the hotel room – a mock up unit. When it’s ready; the hotel management and the owner of the hotel will all be present to inspect, to get the feel of it. If they liked it, only then we would start the fabrication process of the hundreds of hotel room interiors.

I realize it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'d be easier for TCM practitioners to get a straightforward grasp on what Qi Mobile is if we have the site set up, even just a mock up. To be able to see, feel, and in this case, click their way through the site would be a much more realistic experience than me speaking of how the site would look like.

Therefore, I will be working on that mock up with the web developer team.

    3. Reducing campaign goal amount

I also think it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'d be best to get the actual site up as soon as possible, so I have decided to reduce the goal from RM60k to RM15k, a reasonable amount for a start, for the preliminary Qi Mobile site to make its debut.

    Long overdue update!

    Hello.

    1. Update on virtual meeting with potential investors – postponed! Me and my fellow campaigners were given feedback to reflect on and improve. Grateful for the opportunity and feedback.

    2. Update on Qi Mobile website – in the works.
Web developer team came up with 2 samples. I picked the one that looks more compact and have more portals to click in further, I like the concept of showing there\\\'s more for you to explore with each click. It\\\'s kinda like visiting a science center where every button you press gives you a little surprise and you\\\'d learn something at the same time. I imagine the site to be \\\'fluid\\\', connecting one point to another and flowing seamlessly (both information and visually).

    Updates: Qi Mobile website

Hello! Here are some updates on the progress of Qi Mobile website-

Web developer team came up with a sneak preview, and I\'m happy to say that the flow of the site gives a clear impression on what Qi Mobile is about. Now, we are working together to further enhance the presentation Qi Mobile with images and phrases to tell a story, with consideration of user experience.

For Qi Mobile Phase 1, there will be 3 main features on the site:
    1. the appointment booking platform
    2. information hub for all you need to know about Traditional Chinese Medicine
    3. free mini course: self-massage techniques

    Behind the scenes

Hello! Some behind the scenes update:

Sometime ago, I was cold-calling practitioners to introduce Qi Mobile as a search and book platform for practitioners in the country.

While doing that I was also genuinely interested in the world of TCM from their point of view, so I asked them about their practice, their experiences, their future hopes and dreams. Some of them are open to share, and it was an eye-opener.

The conversations between these practitioners solidified my vision for Qi Mobile as a platform to introduce the TCM way of life; and I've since shifted my time, energy and resources toward making that happen.

Practical ideas for that vision to transform into reality come in bits and pieces; I'm working with relevant parties, constantly refining and tweaking; designing on the execution and testing.

Having no background and experience at all in business, marketing etc.; I'm extremely grateful for the help I get since embarking this journey: my teachers, friends and family, and people who share the same vision.

From here on out, one thing that's going to be constant: learning!
